After They Left tells the true story of Charles Hickson and Calvin Parker, two Mississippi men whose quiet night of fishing in 1973 became a lifelong burden when they claimed they were dragged aboard a craft by strange, wrinkled beings. Interrogated by police, hounded by reporters, strapped to lie detectors, and pushed under hypnosis, Hickson feels compelled to share their experience, while Calvin longs only to forget. Using real transcripts from interviews, news reports, and hypnosis sessions, the play captures not only the bizarre events of that night, but the lasting toll it took on their friendship, reputations, and sense of self. What began as an unimaginable encounter became a defining moment that shaped and shadowed the rest of their lives.
